‘Going straight for the big one – a 24-hour solo mountain bike marathon – with next to no previous professional racing or training experience, I knew I was going to have to cover every base. I knew my diet was shocking and I’d been chasing a solution to some minor health ailments for years; this was clearly going to be a barrier to success if I didn’t sort it from the off.
Jamie opened to my eyes to better eating and educated me on all the little ‘hidden evils’ in supposedly healthy options. He didn’t patronise or look down on me at any point, and when I struggled or failed with the occasional dietary suggestion he was ready with alternatives and didn’t make a big deal of it.
Within two months all of my health ailments were gone or going, energy levels were up and I was losing a sensible amount of weight. I managed to stay injury free despite the levels of training involved.
Even more incredible was that despite picking up a virus on holiday that caused a heart infection, which in turn put me in hospital and forced me to miss two out the three remaining months of training available before the race, I made it to the start line fully recovered, with good energy and I raced a result better than I’d hoped for!

Thank you to Jamie  for yet another superb nutrition seminar.
He has really opened all our eyes to the right and wrong foods we’re eating, and how to improve our diets generally. We run a sports club with over 2500 members and we can now pass on some of this advice to them.
His knowledge on the subject matter is excellent and his interaction with the groups helped everyone to understand what good nutrition is all about. Many members we have now spoken to say they have more energy, enjoy the right foods and felt much less sluggish than they’d ever done before. ‘Jamie has worked with Dings Crusaders Rugby club during the off season to introduce sport specific nutritional advice to a varied group of players. The advice he has provided has been enthusiastically received and opened a few eyes as to the changes that players need to make pre and post training and matches.
The club is keen to build on this relationship with Jamie and to introduce his expertise throughout the junior section of the club as well as with the senior men’s teams. The advice he gave was clearly communicated without overwhelming people with scientific terminology…but he always had the answers to back up his statements.
